What the register cannot see.
The Observatory records what vendors announce: list prices, packaging, the grant. It cannot see what you signed. The discount off list, the commit floor, the uplift cap at renewal live in contracts nobody publishes, and they are the half of the market every buyer wants and no one can scrape.
- Nothing is published below five independent contributors.
- No cell renders where one contributor dominates it.
- No contributed figure ever enters the register.
- It works without your name. An email is optional and starts no sales follow-up.
- The permission box is the record that you were free to share.
The public half stays on the AI Pricing Observatory.
The shape, never the document. A band where you want one, an exact figure where you are free to give one.
Held, then read, then aggregated.
It lands apart from the register
A contribution goes into its own store with a provenance that never changes: self-reported. The register holds only what a vendor announced and what was verified against a public source, and a negotiated term has no public source in principle. The two never share a table, and nothing moves from one to the other.
The one free-text field is held unread
The product or edition you name is the only box on the form that takes prose. It is short, and it is quarantined until a person has looked at it. A contract clause arrives in any field that accepts a sentence, whatever the instructions say, so there is nowhere else on this form to paste one.
Nothing renders until the cell can support it
A cell needs five independent contributors before any statistic renders, and it stays dark where one contributor dominates it. What comes back is the aggregate: the shape of what buyers are signing for a vendor at a seat band, never anyone’s terms.
